Grounded ("we," "our," or "the app") is an AI-powered speech coaching application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, and store your information. This policy explains our data practices in plain language.

Account Information: Your name and email address, used to create and manage your account.
Audio Recordings: Voice recordings you create during practice sessions. These are uploaded securely for AI analysis and stored so you can replay them in your session history.
Session Data: Transcriptions, scores, feedback, drill performance, streak counts, and other metrics generated during your training sessions.
Profile Preferences: Settings you configure such as training allocation, notification preferences, timezone, speech background, and region of origin (used for pronunciation training).
Device Information: Basic browser and device information necessary for delivering the app experience, including push notification subscription data if you enable notifications.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the Grounded training experience:

AI Analysis: Audio recordings are processed by AI to generate feedback on tone, pacing, structure, pronunciation, and language patterns.
Personalization: Your performance data drives adaptive difficulty, spaced repetition, and personalized drill selection.
Progress Tracking: Session scores and metrics are used to calculate your six performance indices and display your progress over time.
Notifications: If enabled, we send daily practice reminders at your preferred time.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers. Audio files are stored in cloud storage with access restricted to your account. Database records are protected with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We do not store payment information as the app is free to use.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Your recordings, scores, and progress are visible only to you. We may use third-party services (cloud hosting, AI processing) to operate the app, and these services process data only as needed to provide their functionality to us.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

Access: You can view all your session data, recordings, and progress within the app at any time.
Export: You can export session reports as PDF documents from the Structure Lab and session history.
Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.
Notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time through the app settings or your device settings.

Cookies & Local Storage

Grounded uses a session cookie to keep you logged in and local storage for PWA functionality and caching. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party advertising cookies.

Children's Privacy

Grounded is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
